Why become a BigStuf Intern?

The main focus of the BigStuf Internship is to serve, and through that experience you will have an amazing opportunity to deepen your relationship with Jesus. You will serve the students, youth pastors, staff, speakers, and band, as well as your fellow interns. The Intern Team is made up of a group of college students from around the country that all have the same heartbeat . . . Jesus. These people will become your best friends, so close that you will see them as your family. You will laugh together, cry together, work together, and play together a lot! Before you even step foot in the Big Room at camp, the summer will start with some intense leadership training and teaching that you will value for years to come. Through high and low ropes, team building activities, and camping, you will learn things about yourself and your team that you will take with you throughout the entire summer. During this time you will meet with some of the best leadership teachers around to help you prepare for the best summer of your life. As an intern, you will hear things you have never heard before, look at the world in a fresh way, worship like you have never worshiped before, and serve and be served in return. Most importantly though, you will experience Jesus in a new and radical way. Be ready for a summer that will change your life!

Successful Applicant Requirements

• A personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and an active involvement in a local church or Christian organization
• A desire to be a team member in a ministry dedicated to communicating the refreshing spirit of Christ, the truth of His Word, and the difference living for Him can make in our lives
• A servant’s heart reflected in a willing attitude
• Must have graduated high school by June of 2011 and/or completed one year of college (minimum age is 18 years)
• Must be willing to raise support to cover expenses. Doing this creates a support team of prayer for you for the summer and allows God to provide for the work He has called you to do.
• Must have the ability to do manual labor. Interns will load and unload semi trucks and lift heavy pieces of equipment, boxes, stage, truss, lighting, etc. Interns also help build and construct the stage.
• Must have the ability to work outside on the beach during the hot summer days in Florida
• Must be available by 3:00 pm on May 18th, 2012 for training in Atlanta through August 1st, 2012 (beginning and end dates of Internship subject to change).

All applicants will have an interview on the phone with BigStuf staff as a part of the application process.

Application Deadline (Application Currently Available via Application tab)

All applications must be postmarked by December 31, 2011. BigStuf will begin the process to let applicants know if they have been accepted to the Internship program on January 16, 2012.

*Updated Information:  We have actually implemented 2 deadlines, a priority deadline and a final deadline. The priority deadline is December 31, 2011. Those of you who send in a completed application on or before December 31, 2011, will have priority status and will have full consideration from BigStuf staff. The final deadline is January 15, 2012.

Support Raising

Each intern is required to raise $2800. This money goes towards covering a portion of training prior to camp, travel expenses to and from Panama City, and intern camp expenses such as meals and housing. Any amount raised above the $2800 will go towards assisting the intern program as a whole.

Typical Duties

• Load In for Camp (meeting rooms, video equipment, resource center, 410 Bridge Experience, etc.)
• Greet groups as they arrive for camp
• Get groups checked in and to the right places
• Run video cameras and equipment during Sessions
• Sell t-shirts and other resources in the BigStuf Store
• Interact with and make new friends
• Direct recreational activities on beautiful beaches
• Continue the not-so-undefeated tradition of the staff volleyball team
• Utilizing strengths and leadership in specialty areas
• Run security each night
• Serve any way you can
• Invest in students and youth leaders
